    Significant building development is undertaken to accommodate planned growth. Our investment has delivered additional production capabilities, doubled the size of our finishing room, and added:

    QR Capability

    A new Barcode Scanner is installed; giving us the ability to scan data matrix and QR codes.
2014
  • State of the art press

    With the installation of a state of the art servo driven printing press Piroto extends its capability to print the highest quality and most sophisticated labels and tags.
2013
  • Grade A Standards

    Piroto is awarded a Grade A in the high hygiene risk category under the BRC/IoP Global Standard for Packaging & Packaging Materials.
  • Investment

    Piroto install a 5 headed HSA inkjet system which allows us to print variable data on the adhesive side of materials.
2010
  • Re-branding

    Established in 1972 Piroto’s main core values have always remained the same. One subtle change over the years has been our logo and branding, now updated to reflect a modern Piroto with its traditional values.
2009
  • BRC Accreditation

    Piroto has always maintained a high standard of hygiene and in September 2009 to comply with requests from customers the site was audited and accredited to the BRC hygiene packaging standard.
  • Our good reputation travels far!

    Piroto labels and tags are now being used in more countries than ever before including China, Australia, Russia and South America.
  • RECORD SALES

    Sales for 2009 reached over £4.3 Million!
2008/9
  • 35 years in the Industry

    Established in 1972, incorporation on 29th January 1973 sees us celebrating 35 years in the industry. Having seen many changes, one thing which has not changed is Piroto’s philosophy of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Piroto cleans up its act!

    Off press cleaning equipment is installed to help improve print quality and reduce wash up time. An additional investment sees the installation of a Cold Foiling Unit (to apply high quality gold, silver or holographic metallic effects).
2007/8
  • £ 40,000 INVESTMENT!

    Piroto undertake project to create a secure “Pharma” finishing unit, operating to GMP standards (Good Manufacturing Practice), which incorporates a 100% print inspection camera system.
  • Business improvement plan

    After the “credit crunch” came a recession and customers take advantage of the Piroto Business Improvement Plan! By re-designing and sourcing alternative materials, Piroto assist customers in reducing their costs, helping them through the tough times ahead.
  • 2008 welcomed 6 new employees to the team, with 2 internal promotions!
2007
  • EURO SALES INCREASE AGAIN!

    Piroto previously in 2005 negotiated a 3 year contract with an EU Company to supply the region with 6 million tags a year. In March 2007 this contract was renewed and Piroto have retained the business through to 2009.
  • CONTINUED RECOGNITION

    Piroto are once again proud to announce continued recognition and re-accreditation with Investors in People.
2006
  • FURTHER SALES!

    A further success in 2005 was to win back another contract to supply labels and tags to the expanded Bakkavor Group of companies.
  • KAIZEN RULES!

    Kaizen (Japanese for “improvement”) is based on their philosophy, which focuses on continuous improvement. A record number of 74 Kaizens were initiated by the Piroto Team, creating an estimated annual saving of 1,706 hours.
2005
  • EURO SALES!

    This year we have seen a big increase in Euro sales thanks to successfully winning new business and welcoming back some old favourites, these include contracts from 2 EU companies - S.R.C. (France) and A.I.S. (Malta). After unsuccessfully trying out competitors both companies approached Piroto where they knew quality was assured.
  • UV Technology

    Our ongoing press replacement and upgrade investment programme sees more than 50% of presses now having the very latest UV technology.
2004
  • DIGITAL REVOLUTION!

    At the end of 2004 a $200,000 investment was made with the installation of an Idax Variable Printing System, enabling us to offer yet another new dimension in the continuing expansion of our printing capabilities, including sequential numbering and bar-coding.

2003
  • Leigh Mann takes the reigns

    History repeated itself at Piroto as on December 16th, after working for Piroto for 14 years, Leigh Mann and his family acquired the Company.

  • INVESTOR IN PEOPLE

    Achieved the Investor in People award and also approved supplier status from ASTRA ZENECA for Clinical Trial Labels.
1999
  • NEW PREMISES

    On 2nd January moved to new purpose-built premises in Pondwood Close, Northampton. A huge team effort ensured a trouble-free move.
1995/6
  • New System

    Changed from original "QANTEL" computer system to "COMPASS" for sales order processing and finished goods stocks. Staff came in over the Christmas period to ensure the change went successfully and 1996 became the first year to reach £3 million sales.

  • Achieved £2 million sales.

  • Management Information System

    The Compass System was introduced for purchasing, raw material stocks and accounting.
1992
  • APPROVED SUPPLIER

    Piroto obtained approved supplier status for swing tickets and labels to Marks and Spencer garment manufacturers through Map 80 Systems (East) Limited.
1990
  • British Printing Industries Federation

    Registered as a member of the BPIF.
1989
  • THE MECANABEC 6 COLOUR PRESS

    The first 330mm wide press (the first press with more than 4 colours) was purchased this year.
1988
  • THE VISCOUNT 3 COLOUR PRESS

    The first 250mm wide press was purchased this year and the first month to reach £100,000 was December of this year, and the first year to reach £1 million in sales.
1987
  • BASTILLE DAY!

    On the 14th July, the Inglis family acquired the company. Strategy developed to teach ourselves FLEXO printing and to be non-dependant on PILOT’S Gravure machines within 2 years.
1986
  • PILOT GROUP

    Pilot Group purchased by Avery International, consisting of operating companies in France, Italy, Belgium, Germany and Spain as well as the UK. The future of the company was very uncertain as Avery already had 2 factories in the UK. All staff were very committed and only 1 person left.
1985
  • New Logo

    The new Piroto logo is introduced.
1979
  • New Premises

    On the 15th October, Piroto Labelling moved to new premises in Northampton at No. 10 Edgemead Close, Round Spinney, bringing only 4 staff from London. In December the parent company, Pilot, went into administration and remained this way until 1986.
1975
  • PIROTO!

    In April, Alastair Inglis was appointed Managing Director with the brief to convert the Company into an industrial labelling operation. In July the Company changed its name to “PIROTO LABELLING LIMITED”.
  • The word PIROTO came from a range of over-printing machines manufactured by Pilot, France:
1974
  • LABEL-MATIC!

    Due to mounting problems with the price-gun following a design change, the Company became insolvent by the end of the year, and the English half (ABM) was taken over by Pilot, France.
1973
  • ABM & PILOT FRANCE

    Introduced by LABEL-MATIC when the design of the label-feed in the gun was changed to a sprocket drive - PILOT were experts at punching.
  • Within a few months, ABM and Pilot invested in a joint-venture named ABM-PILOT LABELLING LIMITED.
1972
  • THE BEGINNING!

    Founded in an ex-grocery shop in Fulham, it was a division of Automatic Business Machines Ltd. ABM had the UK agency for CASIO (who had no presence in Europe) and the PDQ Greenshield stamp dispensing machines.
  • With second offices and factory on the same estate as the Rolls Royce Corniche factory and close to Wormwood Scrubs Prison, the Company manufactured price-gun labels and had the UK LABEL-MATIC agency, as did PILOT SA in France.
